17 Cute Valentine’s Day Ideas (Inspired By Your Favorite Celebs)

With February 14 right around the corner, whether you’re single or taken, it’s fun to binge-watch Valentine’s Day TV episodes and look back on all the lavish gifts your favorite celebrities have given their significant others. Ah, like in 2006 when David Beckham reportedly gave Victoria Beckham an $8 million necklace. Who doesn’t love seeing how the other half lives?!

But your favorite celebs can also be an amazing source of inspiration for gift ideas you can recreate! Even with all the money in the world, sometimes it’s the simpler gifts that can mean the most. These stars are the true romantics!

17. Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard – A mix tape

Mixtapes may sound outdated, but it’s their thoughtfulness and simplicity that make them such a good Valentine’s Day gift. What shows you know a person better than a collection of handpicked, meaningful songs you took the time to put together? Just ask Dax Shepard, who put together a special mix tape for Kristen Bell in 2013 for them to listen to on the way to the courthouse (to get married!) while they drove together in a ’67 Lincoln.

It clearly meant a lot to Kristen, since she posted a throwback video of the moment to Instagram on Valentine’s Day 2017. “Here are 11 seconds of one of my happiest days,” Kristen wrote in the caption.

16. Kylie Jenner & Tyga – a helicopter ride

Okay, chances are you weren’t born into one of the world’s most famous families, you don’t have a successful cosmetics line, and you’re not a Grammy nominated rapper, so maybe you can’t quite recreate Kylie Jenner and Tyga‘s private Valentine’s Day helicopter ride around New York City. But that doesn’t mean you can’t explore some place new with your significant other! Buy inexpensive tickets for a bus tour around a city nearby (even if you’ve visited the city a thousand times, you’re sure to learn something new), or just hop in the car and explore some place you’ve never been together. If you want to splurge, get that helicopter ride, Bachelor-style.

15. Julianne Hough & Brooks Laich – breakfast in bed

Breakfast in bed is probably the most classic Valentine’s Day gift, but the recipient is still guaranteed to love it. There’s nothing more luxurious than enjoying your coffee and a homemade breakfast while you’re still under the covers (and if you have pups as cute as Julianne Hough‘s, invite them, too!). Even when Valentine’s Day falls on a weekday, and you can’t hang around in bed for hours, you still have to eat breakfast — so why not do in bed? Just remember to pick up the ingredients ahead of time.

14. Kim Kardashian & Kanye West – one thousand red roses

In case you get bored counting to one thousand, Kim Kardashian did it for you. She received multiple bouquets of long-stemmed red roses from Kanye West for Valentine’s Day, totaling to one thousand individual stems — because a dozen roses is just way too overdone.

We won’t do the math on what 83 dozen-rose bouquets would cost you because let’s not even go there. But you could take some inspiration from Kanye and buy your significant other a year-long subscription to a flower delivery service. That way, they’ll get one fresh bouquet of flowers a month, all the way up until next Valentine’s Day when it’s time for you to think of another gift.

13. Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt – a 200-year-old olive tree

Who better to steal a Valentine’s Day gift idea from than the most famous couple of all time? We’re sure it’s not this V-Day give that sent this duo to divorce though! Brad Pitt bought Angelina Jolie a 200-year-old olive tree back in 2010 that cost nearly $20,000. Thankfully, it’s not hard to recreate that gift on a budget. Spend an afternoon with your significant other at a local nursery picking out a tree, and then take the time to plant it together. It’ll be a meaningful reminder of your relationship for years (and years!) to come.

If you live in a place where the temperature is too low to plant in February, don’t worry. You can still go out and buy and plant an indoor tree together.

12. Michelle & Barack Obama – a day at the beach

Michelle Obama and Barack Obama obviously know how to work hard, and they know exactly how to relax together, too. The two went to the beach on Valentine’s Day in 2017 — a simple yet perfect place to spend the day. If you’re both fortunate enough to be able to take the day off on February 14, pack up the car and drive to the nearest beach. Even if it’s cold, you can still enjoy walking up and down the shore. If you have to wait until the weekend to hit the sand, that’s fine too; the anticipation will get you through the work week. And if you live nowhere near the beach, maybe Valentine’s Day is the right time to plan a couple’s getaway.

11. Ariana Grande & Mac Miller – a decorated space

Even for celebrities, sometimes nothing beats cheap, kitschy gifts. Ariana Grande posted a photo on Valentine’s Day last year of her keyboard covered in inexpensive candy heart decorations that we’re assuming her boyfriend Mac Miller put there. What’s cuter than decorating your significant other’s work space to keep them smiling all day? And silly little Valentine’s Day decorations like these won’t break the bank, they work just as well on a computer keyboard as they do a musical one, and you can reuse them for years to come.

10. Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth – a hike with your pups

Going on a hike together doesn’t cost a thing (well, maybe a parking fee). Grab the dogs and a cup of coffee like Miley Cyrus did last Valentine’s Day with Liam Hemsworth and hit the trails! You might have to wake up extra early to do it before work, but it’ll be worth it to get outside with your significant other and spend some quality time together to start the day. If you have dogs, they’ll appreciate it, too. You can also opt to wait for the weekend and spend the day hiking somewhere new.

9. Jessica Alba & Cash Warren – a themed gift basket

Even if you aren’t the co-founder of an undies and socks brand like Cash Warren, you can still put together a thoughtful gift basket for your significant other on Valentine’s Day like he did for Jessica Alba. Cash’s bag included socks (of course), a heart-shaped frozen pizza, and cookies. Throw in a favorite movie or two, and not only do you have a great gift basket, you also have all the things you need for a cozy night in together. Valentine’s Day, solved.

8. Marc Jacobs & Char Defrancesco – a room full of balloons

If your significant other is an Instagram lover, then Marc Jacobs‘s gift for boyfriend Char Defrancesco is the one you should recreate. Thankfully, it’s crazy easy: just inflate enough red balloons with helium to cover the ceiling of a room. The colorful impact and all the curled white ribbons will make for the perfect Instagram photo of your SO (or maybe even the two of you). If you’ve been together for a long time, you can even buy metallic number-shaped balloons to celebrate the number of Valentine’s Days you’ve spent together.

7. Blake Lively & Ryan Renolds – jewelry

Jewelry isn’t the most unique idea for a Valentine’s Day present, but nobody ever turned it down! Just take Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Ryan bought Blake an earring in the shape of an arrow (dare we say, cupid’s arrow), which she paired with a heart-patterned shirt for the ultimate Valentine’s Day look. The unique part of this gift is that it wasn’t a pair of earrings but just a single statement one. If it’s good enough for Ryan and Blake, it’s good enough for us.

6. Chrissy Teigen & John Legend – homemade breakfast

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend followed in Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich‘s footsteps and also celebrated Valentine’s Day with breakfast in bed. John cooked Chrissy French toast and paired it with fresh strawberries and blueberries, which was good enough for an Instagram photo. “Breakfast in bed from my Valentine! I love you more than I know how to say,” Chrissy wrote in the caption. Chrissy and John are relationship goals, so clearly you can’t go wrong with breakfast in bed.

5. Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik – a nice cuddle session

Lives are more hectic than ever these days, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to just slow down and spend some quiet time together with your significant other. Take it from international supermodel Gigi Hadid and musician Zayn Malik, who probably have the busiest schedules of anyone. They spent Valentine’s Day 2016 cuddled up together (plus their cat) on the couch.

Instead of turning on the TV or putting in a movie, consider just enjoying each other’s company for an hour or two like Zigi.

4. Eniko & Kevin Hart – a customized jersey

If you and your significant other are big sports fans, then Kevin Hart has the perfect gift idea for you. He bought his wife Eniko Hart a customized basketball jersey with their last name on it, because she’s clearly his number one. Even if you and your significant other don’t share the same last name, you can get their last name printed on it or even a nickname that means something to the two of you. Take your gift up a notch by including tickets to a game!

3. Lauren Conrad & William Tell – a tropical getaway (from home!)

Even if you live somewhere where it’s freezing cold in February and you can’t get away, you can still pretend to be on a tropical island somewhere with your boo. All you need is the right accessories (and beverages). Just use Lauren Conrad and William Tell‘s photo for inspiration: Celebrating their fourth Valentine’s Day together, the pair donned matching Hawaiian print shirts and sunglasses, then sipped tropical drinks together in 2016. A perfect way to beat the winter blues, no matter where you are.

2. Ciara & Russell Wilson – a joy ride together

Chances are, whenever you’re driving somewhere with your significant other, you’re in a rush. Follow Ciara and Russell Wilson‘s example and spend Valentine’s Day together taking a nice, relaxing ride (antique car maybe not included). Even if you end up going nowhere and just turning around to drive back home, you can enjoy the time spent together cruising. Maybe even make a mix tape à la Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell full of songs that mean something to the two of you to jam to while you drive.

1. Emma Roberts & Evan Peters – get fast food together

Who says Valentine’s Day dinner has to be spent at a fancy, expensive restaurant? Even Emma Roberts and Evan Peters know that’s not true, because the amount of money you spend is in no way directly proportional to the amount of fun you have. The two were all smiles when they spent Valentine’s Day 2015 together at an In-N-Out Burger. Order off the value menu, buy tons of greasy food, and eat it inside the fast food restaurant off of plastic trays. Now that’s romance.
