It’s a sad day when a good movie leaves Netflix, especially when you have yet to watch it for the first time. I suppose there’s only so much room for all the amazing shows, movies and documentaries out there, but why take away the good stuff? If you’re as bummed as we are, have no fear – there are other options!
Here are 17 amazing and classic movies that tragically left Netflix this year that you absolutely must watch. The good news is that we’re about to tell you exactly where to find them now. So, pop some popcorn, slip into something a little more ~comfortable~ and grab your laptop charger. It’s going to be a long night of binging movies!
17. Pulp Fiction
Netflix said bye-bye to Pulp Fiction this past January, so you’ve missed your chance by a couple of months. The film is a must-watch for any movie buff, especially considering that it’s directed by Quentin Tarantino. Plus, it features a stacked cast including John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis. So, if you want a violent night filled with mobsters, bandits and a gangster’s wife, then you’ve come to the right place. Just, don’t go to Netflix. Then you’ll have gone to the wrong place. You can find this film on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
16. The Parent Trap
Not the Lindsay Lohan version! But alas, it’s true. The 1998 remake of The Parent Trap starring our favorite redhead left Netflix in January much to our dismay. This movie was a childhood staple, making us wish we could find our long-lost twin sister at summer camp. Instead, we’ll settle for living vicariously through these two. Although it’s left Netflix, this movie hasn’t left our hearts (and other streaming services). If you’re itching to watch this classic film again, you have a few options. The Parent Trap is available on Prime Video, YouTube, iTunes, Google Play and Vudu.
15. White Chicks
Netflix got rid of White Chicks?! Yo, hold ma poodle! Hold ma poodle! White Chicks peaced out from Netflix this past January, and that’s just cold. If you’ve never watched this film, then we’ll just need you to take a moment to pick your next streaming service, because this movie is hilarious AF. Two FBI agents, desperate to get back on better terms with their boss, take a very unconventional route to do so. The brother duo goes undercover in an effort to protect hotel heiresses the Wilson Sisters from a kidnapping plot, and as you can already guess, they’re in for a wild time. You can catch White Chicks on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
14. Miss Congeniality
Sandra Bullock is an absolute QUEEN, and the movie Miss Congeniality is a strong testament to that fact. She also stars as an FBI agent going undercover, but this time, it’s to prevent a bombing at the Miss United States beauty pageant. She’s beauty; she’s grace; she’s Miss United States! Why Netflix decided to remove this movie, we couldn’t tell ya. But, what we can tell ya is that there are other places to watch. You can catch this badass actress absolutely slaying the game on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes. And just for your information, the sequel is currently not available on Netflix for streaming either. Womp womp.
13. Mean Girls
That is so not fetch! Unfortunately, Netflix cold-heartedly ditched Mean Girls, so they’re going in the Burn Book. Being a staple in early 2000s pop-culture (can you believe it was released in 2004?!), the film is still very relevant today with its quotable scenes and bitchy mean girls. So, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, then you can’t sit with us. You’ll have to find another means to watch this absolutely iconic film. But you’re in luck! Mean Girls is available to watch on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
12. Grease
Sadly, our favorite Greasers got the boot from Netflix earlier this year. And if you haven’t watched the film by now, then you’re seriously missing out! Grease is the ultimate movie to watch during the summer when you’re in the mood for something fun. Starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, this movie offers a whole lotta music, a whole lotta leather, and a whole lotta hair grease. If you’re looking for some “summer lovin'” and “Greased Lightning” or just want to watch this movie again for the tenth time, there are other places you can cruise on over to watch this classic film. Currently, the musical is available to watch on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes and Starz.
11. Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump may love you, Jenny, but Netflix sure doesn’t. Netflix kicked Forrest Gump to the curb in January, and we’re not mad, we’re just disappointed. You’ve probably heard the quote “Run, Forrest, run!” before, so if you’re not familiar with where this famous quote comes from, now you know. This classic film stars Tom Hanks as an Alabama man with an IQ of 75 during an extremely historical and political time period. It’s definitely a movie to include on your bucket list if you haven’t seen it! If tonight’s the night you decide the watch, then visit Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes to experience this iconic film.
10. Project X
Are you ready to experience the biggest party of the century? Not if you’re on Netflix! Project X is an incredibly ridiculous and crazy film, but it’s also a must-watch (and will put all of your high school parties to shame). Thrown by a group of high school senior boys who want to make a name for themselves, their party goes above and beyond anything you’d expect. However, back in February, Netflix decided to kick them out of their party. But don’t be too bummed! You can watch Project X on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes. Netflix isn’t invited!
9. The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Tim Burton, so you know it’s good. If you’ve never experienced the magic of this film, then let us catch you up to speed. Released in 1993, the film is described as a stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy. It’s incredibly whimsical and artistic, so if you haven’t watched it by now, then Netflix isn’t your best bet. There are several other streaming services where you can catch Jack Skellington as he experiences “Christmas Town” for the first time. The film is available to watch on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes!
8. Zootopia
Zootopia is an adorable animated film that premiered only two years ago in 2016. It stars the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba, making for a fun time that the whole family can enjoy. If you haven’t watched it yet, this movie features the story of a bunny cop and a con artist fox who work together to uncover a conspiracy. Netflix said goodbye to the film in March, so we’ll just have to resort to other ways to watch. If you’re itching to watch Zootopia during your next family movie night, you can find it on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes. But tell your parents that you’ll handle it because it took them long enough just to figure out Netflix.
7. 50 First Dates
50 First Dates is a classic romantic comedy that is definitely worth the watch. But don’t think about the premise too much or you’ll realize it’s pretty creepy. Netflix broke up with the flick in June, sadly enough. Perfect for a movie night with your significant other or your mom, this film stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as a couple under some pretty unique circumstances! Due to a car accident, Lucy (Barrymore) loses her short-term memory from the previous day every morning when she wakes up. Henry (Sandler) is absolutely infatuated with Lucy despite her memory and finds a way to woo her every day as he learns more about her. If you want to watch this silly, heartwarming film, you can catch it on Crackle, Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
6. The Great Gatsby (1974)
Let’s take a vote. Do you prefer the Robert Redford Jay Gatsby, or do you prefer the Leonardo DiCaprio Jay Gatsby? I think I can guess for quite a few of you, but if you prefer the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby then we totally understand. They’re both classics in their own right! We recently said goodbye to this oldie-but-goodie in June, and for the record, the 2013 version isn’t on there, either. But if you’re looking to watch the 1974 version, you’re in luck! This film can be found on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
5. Jaws
Jaws is an absolute classic, hands down. Even if you’re not a big fan of sharks, this film is still worth checking out. (Just close your eyes during the scary parts!) Also, considering that Shark Week is coming up soon, watching Jaws is a given! The film obviously wasn’t equipped with the latest technology and special effects, but it gives kind of a charm to it (and makes the shark scenes way less awful. Kind of). So, if you want to sink your teeth into this film, there are other places you can visit besides Netflix, since the film (and its three sequels!) were kicked off the streaming service. You can watch Jaws on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
4. The Craft
The Craft is a seriously ~witchy~ film if you can’t tell by the title, perfect for Halloween time. Or anytime, really, because witches are awesome. Plus, it includes stars such as Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich, so what’s not to love? The flick features the story of a new Catholic prep high school student who falls into a crowd of outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft, and as you can already tell, this movie is a recipe for some disastrous fun. Netflix cast a spell on The Craft in the spring, so it’s no longer available to watch there. But, you can watch it on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes and Starz.
3. American Pie
American Pie is a total classic that’s perfect for your next lazy summer day movie binge. If you’re familiar with the film, then you’ll know it’s essentially a raunchy sex-comedy. It features the story of four high school boys who make a pact to lose their virginities by prom night. What could go wrong, right? If you haven’t watched the film yet, then we’ll let you figure out the apple pie joke/reference on your own. The film left Netflix in April along with its sequel, sadly, before we could hit summer vacay. Instead, you can watch the film on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and iTunes.
2. Bridget Jones’s Diary
Bridget Jones’s Diary is the perfect movie for your next girls’ night in. After being embarrassed by a guy for her smoking habit, weight, and overall appearance, Bridget Jones decides to write a diary documenting her journey to quit smoking, lose weight and find the perfect guy. This chick flick left Netflix just as May rolled around, so don’t waste your time browsing. Instead, you can try Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes and HBO Now to watch this entertaining, romantic film. Bust out the Ben and Jerry’s!
1. Bring It On
It’s clearly not a cheerocracy at Netflix, because Bring It on and all four of its sequels said buh-bye to Netflix in July. The Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Gabrielle Union and Jesse Bradford is quite obviously the best and if you haven’t watched it yet, you need to grab your squad and have a movie night ASAP. The flick is still available on Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes.
