17 Celebrity Wedding Dresses That Are Truly Stunning

Be honest, how many bridal magazines do you read despite not being engaged…or even in a relationship? It’s alright, you’re in good company. There’s a magic about weddings that just draws us in. Celebrity weddings often take the fairy tale factor to the next level. A large part of that has to do with the wedding dresses.

Any wedding gown is a thing of beauty, but we cannot help but drool over celebrity wedding dresses. After all, they pretty much have unlimited budgets and the ability to have their dresses custom-made by the world’s best designers. Unlike your average bride, some celebrities take the same fashion-forward approach they do with their red carpet looks and apply it to their wedding gowns, creating new bridal trends. Sure, celebrity marriages might not always last, but at least we will have the memories. And we can still daydream about the dresses…

17. Kate Middleton

Surprise, surprise, Kate Middleton makes it onto the list. The Duchess of Cambridge‘s wedding gown just might be the most iconic dress of the last 25, nay, 50 years. You probably don’t need any reminding, but the gorgeous lace style was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. It was classic, elegant and lived up to our very high expectations. It stood on its own, but the heirloom tiara and veil made it even better.

16. Elizabeth Taylor

Okay, Elizabeth Taylor had a lot of different weddings. To be exact, she had eight marriages with seven husbands. Truthfully, all of her wedding dresses were stunning even though they all had different styles. The one that made it onto the list is this unique yellow frock that she wore when she married Richard Burton in March 1964. It has a clear 60s vibe, but the coordinating bouquet and that floral headpiece took it to a new level. FYI: For her second wedding to him in 1975, she wore a green ombre gown.

15. Katie Holmes

Think after the infamous Tom CruiseOprah couch-jumping incident but before the drama of the TomKat divorce. Tom was madly in love with Katie Holmes and the duo tied the knot at Castello Odescalchi in Italy in November 2006. Katie’s gown was fit for the romantic location. It was designed by wedding guest Giorgio Armani. It was decked out in Swarovski crystals and had a major tiered veil. #BrideGoals

14. Amal Clooney

If we’re getting technical Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) wore an Oscar de la Renta bridal gown when she wed George Clooney in September 2014 in Venice, Italy. The off-the-shoulder style was special because it oozed romance and was the last wedding gown the designer created before he passed away. As much as we loved the dress, we also have to discuss Amal’s Stella McCartney pantsuit and wide-brimmed hat she wore to the civil ceremony to make things official. Pure elegance.

13. Solange Knowles

How often do we get the chance to talk about a wedding jumpsuit? The first time we ever put “wedding” and “jumpsuit” together was when Solange Knowles got on a bicycle with her groom Alan Ferguson at their New Orleans wedding bash in November 2014. She wore a Humberto Leon for Kenzo caplet gown and custom cuffs for the actual ceremony. Plus, her multiple white looks included a similar ivory jumpsuit and jacket by Stephane Rolland. #Slay

12. Nicky Hilton

Yes, a lot of people will think of Nicky Hilton‘s wedding dress and remember that awkward moment when the car ran part of it over. However, that doesn’t taint what a stunning dress it was. The heiress wore a demure Valentino gown with lace overlay to marry James Rothschild in July 2015 in London, England. Many will remember the major train but the detail work was exquisite, especially that coordinating long veil.

11. Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn had many memorable fashion moments in film, but her off-screen looks were equally stunning. One magical look was the Balmain dress the actress wore to marry Mel Ferrer in September 1954. It was minimal yet had amazing detail, and was very much in keeping with Audrey’s style. The long gloves with the soft balloon sleeves are something we don’t see a lot of nowadays, but we should. And that floral crown. Sigh.

10. Kate Moss

Things may not have worked out between Kate Moss and Jamie Hince but the pair’s July 2011 nuptials in Southrop, England was bohemian relationship goals. Many consider the supermodel the style icon and her wedding dress was truly special. She bucked the sheer boning, froufrou styles that have dominated the last decade and opted for a romantic 1920’s-style John Galliano gown. It combined sheer and metallic embellishments in a throwback-yet-modern way.

9. Poppy Delevingne

You might not have known much about Poppy Delevingne a few years back save for the fact that she was Cara Delevingne‘s older sister, but you probably still fell in love with her wedding dress. The model and actress wed James Cook in May 2014 in London, England in a Haute Couture Chanel bridal gown by Karl Lagerfeld. It was modern but had a timeless quality to it thanks to the short sleeve silhouette with the lighter fabric on the skirt.

8. Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly pretty much set the standard for royal wedding dresses when she wed Prince Rainier of Monaco in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in April 1956. The gown was actually a gift to the actress by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and was created by Academy Award-winning costume designer Helen Rose, who had previously worked with Grace on four films. She and her team used over 400 yards of fabric to make the gown. Furthermore, the antique Brussels lace was embroidered to hide any seams.

7. Priscilla Presley

In May 1967, Priscilla Presley (née Priscilla Ann Beaulieu) tied the knot with Elvis Presley in Las Vegas. She wore a white dress with long lace sleeves and pearl embellishments. Here’s a big surprise for you: It was off-the-rack Westwood. A rhinestone tiara and veil completed the look, but you might have missed the sparkler because of her major bouffant hair.

6. Gwen Stefani

Even if you’re for the Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton relationship, you have to admit that your heart broke when it was announced that Gwen was separating from Gavin Rossdale. Gwen married the Bush frontman at Paul’s Cathedral in London, England in September 2002. She wore a dress that lived up to her fashion icon status. The Christian Dior gown was designed by John Galliano and featured a pink dip-dyed hem. It was classic-meets-punk, and so Gwen.

5. Pippa Middleton

We all know how much Pippa Middleton‘s bridesmaid dress was talked about from the Royal Wedding. Therefore, we had high hopes for her wedding dress. She didn’t disappoint when she married financier James Matthews at St. Mark’s Church in May 2017 in Englefield Green, England. Unlike her sister, Pippa wore a Giles Deacon dress. The stunner had a high neckline, cap sleeves and some sweet heart-shaped details on the reverse. Awwww.

4. Céline Dion

Céline Dion‘s headpiece might actually have stolen the show from her wedding gown. The singer went for pure drama when she married her manager, Rene Angelil, in December 1994. The Mirella and Steve Gentile gown had Age of Innocence and Marie Antionette vibes, but that embellished headpiece really made the look. It’s reported that it weighed seven pounds from the Austrian crystal and that it was actually sewed to her hair.

3. Princess Letizia Ortiz

All royals know how to do weddings and wedding gowns. Period. Princess Letizia Ortiz, now Queen Letizia of Spain, has become a fashion icon that is admired as much as the English royals. Her wedding gown proves that her style has always been on point. She wore an elegant gown truly fit for royalty when she married Spanish Crown Prince Felipe de Bourbon in Madrid in May 2004. The dress was modest yet modern thanks to the high collar on the V-neckline.

2. Kim Kardashian

You’re probably still thinking about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s wedding with that flower wall, but her wedding to Chris Humphries was still special — if for no other reason than her gorg wedding gown. She wore a Vera Wang mermaid gown to the ceremony in Montecito, California in August 2011. It had a princess feel thanks to the full skirt, but it was very her with the strapless neckline and that jeweled tiara. The wedding may have lasted only 72 days, but we’ll still have memories of the dress and the E! special.

1. Kim Kardashian… Again

Okay, quite honestly there was NO way we were letting the Kimye dress go unseen. I mean… look at that! This Givenchy number has some of the most intricate detailing we’ve ever seen on a celebrity wedding dress. The low back and lace sleeves make it the perfect combo of sexy and elegant and it truly encapsulated who Kim Kardashian really is. Plus, we’re pretty sure this marriage is going to last which makes the dress even more special.
