Kate Middleton‘s style is flawless whether she is pregnant or not. HRH knows how to work a monochromatic pastel outfit like nobody’s business. Not to mention that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are already burgeoning fashion icons despite being toddlers. So of course we have to talk about Meghan Markle. She might not be proper royalty yet, but her style is as flawless as any Duchess’s.
We’ve all seen Meghan’s gorgeous engagement clothes and the first proper appearance look, but she has been killing it on the fashion front since Suits — and even before that. Want some fashion inspiration? Scroll through the gallery to see some of Meghan Markle’s best outfits.
17. 12th CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, 2008
This was way back in 2008, people. That’s a decade ago. Not only has Meghan not seemed to age, her style was still pretty flawless back then. Sure, she may not be rocking a mini and a plunging neckline like this when she is a bonafide royal, but there is still an elegance to the ‘fit. It’s metallic silver, but there’s a sophisticated, effortless vibe thanks to her tousled hair and minimal accessories.
16. USA Network Upfront, 2013
Hands up if you could also see Kate Middleton wearing this look? It has a preppy, feminine vibe that both of their styles share. Plus, Meghan has a bouncy, thick head of hair that is as enviable as Kate’s. The difference between them is that Meghan styled the look with a fashion-forward chunky bracelet and we’re not sure that’s in the Duchess of Cambridge’s current aesthetic.
15. Self Magazine‘s Rock The Summer Party, 2013
Part of the reason that Meghan has quickly become a fashion icon is the fact that she looks effortless and comfortable in no matter what she wears. It could be a designer ball gown or it could be something more casual. Here, it’s a pretty white lace dress and some metallic sandals. As per usual, her hair and makeup are on point.
14. Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 Herve Leger by Max Azria, 2013
A crop top? Okay, that’s something that we probably won’t be seeing Meghan in when she starts her royal duties, but she still pulled it off here. She has made the trendy style classic thanks to the all-black color palette and the sleek shapes. Also, note the way the lace detailing on the crop top coordinates with the hem of the skirt? It’s all about the details.
13. The Novak Djokovic Foundation New York Dinner, 2013
Do you recognize these sandals? Just like Kate, it appears that Meghan is also a fan of recycling things in her wardrobe. And we like her for doing it. Another theme we notice in Meghan’s wardrobe is her love of black. She keeps things fresh by playing around with different fabrics. Here, it’s this pretty lace and satin dress with contrasting white lining in the skirt.
12. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 Tracy Reese at The Studio, 2013
This is more of a colorful look for Meghan, but she still pulls it off all the same. There are many of her signatures in the ensemble including a fitted shape, great accesories and glossy hair. Plus, this is an outfit she could totally take into her life as a royal. It seems that there is no dress that she cannot pull off. Jealous, us? Not a chance.
11. New York Film Festival Gala Tribute to Cate Blanchett, 2013
If you’re attending an event that honors Cate Blanchett, you would probably feel some pressure to up your fashion game given that Cate is a red carpet favorite. Meghan didn’t go against her character. She stayed true to what works for her and that is a fitted sheath dress which hits below the knee and has long sleeves. And she accessorized it with a chic metallic bag and fantastic shoes.
10. Westbury Event, 2013
We all know about those pre-engagement announcement jeans that had sales of boot-leg denim sky-rocketing. This is another hit denim moment. She made a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans look super chic with a navy and black color palette. You might not have thought that these silhouettes would work, but her ensemble is proof that they do.
9. The 4th Annual Global Gift Gala, 2013
This dress may be black, but it was a departure for Meghan thanks to the ruching and that swooping hem. The retro hair draped over one shoulder is another change, as are the large earrings. That being said, it still feels like her. She’s not trying too hard, and there’s still a timeless, feminine charm about the whole thing.
8. Herve Leger by Max Azria Fashion Show, 2014
Meghan has a knack for taking almost any piece and making it her own. On the rack, you might have said that this leather jacket with embellished sleeves would have been the last thing you would have expected to see her in. Yet, here she is making it look prim and pretty with a white dress, metallic heels and that gorgeous loose bun.
7. Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 13th Annual An Enduring Vision Benefit, 2014
Can’t you see Meghan wearing something like this with Prince Harry when they’re attending some fancy gala? This blue halter dress is very much in keeping with the former Suits star’s timeless, feminine aesthetic. The color on her is fantastic, but let’s take a moment to appreciate the fit of the gown.
6. NBC TCA Winter Press Tour, 2014
If you’re thinking that Meghan’s style is a bit one note, think again. She can do separates as well as dresses. And she can do graphic prints as well as solids. She dressed up a classic white blouse with a bold striped skirt and some strappy sandals. This look could have been over-accessorized, but she kept things minimal so the skirt would be the focus.
5. All Together Upfront Celebration, 2014
Who is looking lovely in white? That would be Meghan. You think that this is a plain white dress, then you notice the pretty golden sunburst design. She played it up with the gold box clutch. The chunky beige sandals enhanced the warm tones. The hair and makeup are still flawless, as per usual.
4. Dublin Visit, 2014
We’ve talked a lot about how flawless Meghan looks in dresses, but she can give Kate Middleton a run for her money in the coat department. This super-chic white and gray look is giving us #outfitgoals vibes. The oversized clutch is a surprising addition, but it works.
3. NBC Universal Cable Entertainment Upfront, 2015
A jumpsuit? Yeah. You might think that you have Meghan’s style all figured out, then she goes and surprises us with a look like this. It still retains her timeless Audrey-Hepburn-with-a-modern-twist thing thanks to the black and white color palette and the minimal accessorizing. She is definitely a case for the less-is-more aesthetic.
2. ELLE Women in TV Event, 2016
A red look with red lipstick? This is another surprising one. Here’s hoping that Meghan channels some of this glamour for her future royal Christmas celebrations because this brocade dress with coordinating red lipstick is definitely working for her. The turtleneck dress with elbow-length sleeves is also killer.

Premiere of USA Network’s Suits Season 5, 2016
There are people who pull off eight layers and a jewelry box worth of accessories. Then there are people like Meghan who throw on a simple black dress and a cute pair of shoes and slay. Some might be tempted to write this look off as boring, but it’s not. The fit is flawless and the entire thing looks so luxurious. Not to mention that she is carrying it off with such ease.
