18 Of The Longest-Lasting Couples In Hollywood

In Hollywood, there is often a very critical eye put on celebrity relationships. We all root for couples, yet with so much focus on their every move, they’re pretty much destined to fail! Just look at Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, even seemingly perfect couples can be torn down by the media’s relentless attention. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake broke up 15 years ago, yet we still talk about their relationship to this day!

It’s not just about the media, though. Celebrities, with all the money and resources in the world, tend to be a bit blase about marriage. Look at Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries‘ 72-day marriage. Or Brit and Jason Alexander, remember that? 55 hours! But some celebrity couples have been together much, much longer than that. One Hollywood couple on this list has been married for almost 40 years! By Hollywood standards, that’s practically unheard of!

18. Meryl Streep and Don Gummer

Years Together: 39 years
Author Karina Longworth once noted “that despite her high level of stardom for decades, Meryl Streep has managed to maintain a relatively normal personal life.” In late 1978, Meryl married Don Gummer after a few months of dating. They actually met when Meryl’s first husband, John Cazale died. Meryl couldn’t stand to stay in the same apartment she’d shared with John, so Don (a friend of Meryl’s brother) offered her his apartment as a refuge. Don fell in love with her pretty quickly after that. Meryl and Don have four children together: musician Henry (born 1979), actresses Mamie (born 1983) and Grace (born 1986), and model Louisa (born 1991). To support her husband’s work as a sculptor, Meryl once bought a $1.8 million home in Connecticut with an extensive art studio.

17. Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne

Years Together: 35 years
Did you know that Ozzy Osbourne purposely married Sharon on July 4th, so he’d never forget their anniversary? Together, the couple has three children: Aimee (born September 1983), Kelly (born October 1984), and Jack (born 8 November 1985). Ozzy and Sharon’s relationship has always been on public display but was even more so when they had their own TV show, The Osbournes. Their 35-year-long marriage hasn’t been smooth sailing. In fact, their marriage was almost shattered by a cheating scandal. After Ozzy reportedly had cheated with his hair stylist, somehow he and Sharon figured out a way to work it out. Sharon explained the situation on her show, The View, saying “He was trying so hard to be a better person — desperately trying, working his program, working with his therapist every day and trying so hard. I just had a newfound love and I respected him because he’s seriously trying to be a better person.”

16. William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman

Years Together: 35 years

Felicity told Tribune News in 2015, “I was so scared of marriage that I thought I would’ve preferred to step in front of a bus.” There was a breakup that lasted almost five years, but when they got back together, William proposed once again and Felicity got over her fear! The two were married in 1997 and had two daughters together, Sophia Grace (born December 2000) and Georgia Grace (born March 2002). They first met in the ‘80s and bonded over their love of acting. Felicity says it was love at first sight, which is funny that she was the one still afraid to commit.

15. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

Years Together: 34 years
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are pretty much proof that you don’t need to get married to prove you’re in love. These two fell in love while working on the WWII film, Swing Shift in the early ’80s, and have been together ever since. Over the course of their long relationship, they’ve been asked many times why they never got married. In 2016, Goldie said on Britain’s ITV Loose Women, “I would have been long divorced if I got married. If you need to be bound to someone, then it’s important to be married. If you are independent, then it’s important to not be married.” Even after all this time, Goldie still gushes about her man any chance she can get! The couple only has one child together, son Wyatt (born July 1986) but after Goldie’s bitter divorce and subsequent fallout with Bill Hudson, both of Goldie’s older children, Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson, look to Kurt as their father figure.

14. Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden

Years Together: 30 years
Bryan Cranston might be best known for his tumultuous relationships with his TV wives on Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad, but he’s been with the same woman for thirty years now. They have one daughter together, Taylor Dearden Cranston (born 1993), and she even had a guest role on her dad’s show, Breaking Bad. When Bryan and Robin first met in 1986 on the show, they were both in other relationships. But they actually think that if they had started dating right away, they’d never have lasted! She told Redbook magazine in 2012, “Well — I’m going to embarrass my kids — sex is important. Sex is really important. That desire is there.” She added, “When he walks into a room, I’m still ― I mean, my heart gets a little fluttery and I think, ’Oh! He’s so cute. He’s so hot.′ That’s literally the first thing I think.”

12. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Years Together: 29 years

They have two children together, Chester “Chet” Hanks (born 1990) and Truman Theodore Hanks (born 1995), while Tom also has a son from a previous marriage, Colin Hanks, that is a part of their family as well. Tom and Rita have been through a lot in their near 30 years together, with Tom dutifully standing by his wife’s side when she got a double mastectomy in 2015 and then finally beat cancer. Tom Hanks actually admitted on 60 Minutes that their relationship might not have happened if they met earlier. “’I told her long ago, ‘if you and I were at the same high school, I wouldn’t have had the courage to speak to you. Too vivacious, too beautiful, too popular – everything – too upbeat, too positive.’”

The couple has both said they enjoy tackling the household chores together and splitting them up evenly. Rachel joked at a dinner she hosted for the new LG QuadWash dishwasher that Rodger’s best quality is the fact he can hold everything. “Even at your most useless self, you are the best pack mule. He can literally hold more stuff than any man, I swear.” He joked back that his wife had gotten cocky about it and even will ask him to hold her purse when she just has a Starbucks cup in her hand!

Hugh even personally designed the engagement ring he gave to Deborra. On it, he had “Om paramar mainamar” engaged, which translates to “we dedicate our union to a greater source.” The couple suffered two miscarriages before they adopted two children, Oscar and Ava. Hugh Jackman told TV show host, Ellen DeGeneres, “It gets better and better, I can honestly say that. She’s the greatest thing that ever happened to me. 9. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

They have two children together, Jaden Smith (born 1998) and Willow Smith (born 2000). When Jada was asked how they keep things hot after all of these years by Andy Cohen, she said, “I mean, I’m baffled, really! But I really think that Will and I just have amazing chemistry on a lot of different levels. We love to laugh together, we love to learn together, and we just love each other. The couple got married in a civil ceremony in a historic synagogue on the Lower East Side in Manhattan in May 1997. They have three children together: James Wilkie Broderick (born in 2002), then twin daughters, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge (born June 2009). When Sarah was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar in 2013, she gushed about her love for her husband. In the interview, she said, “I love Matthew Broderick. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.” Cute!

Talk about serious power couples! David Beckham and Posh Spice met at a charity football event in 1997 and David quickly asked to see her again. They got married in July 1999 in Ireland and their wedding received tons of media coverage. They are still one of Hollywood’s favorite couples after all these years, especially because of their tight-knit family. David and Victoria have four children together: Brooklyn (born in 1999), Romeo (born in 2002), Cruz (born in 2005), and Harper (born in 2011). During an interview with BBC 4, David admitted that he’s made mistakes but that he and Victoria have always worked through it. “Of course you make mistakes over the years, we all know marriage is difficult at times and it’s about working through it. Whenever we’ve come up against tough times, we know each other better than anybody knows us so we talk.” Good advice.

6. Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber

Years Together: 19 years
Like a few couples on this list, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber met when they were dating other people. They met at a wedding and later got married in 1998. The couple has two children together, Presley Gerber (born in 1999) and Kaia Gerber (born in 2001), who both take after their model mom. Cindy and Rande are now known for designing together, but when they first moved in together, it was a bit of a struggle. “Yeah, that was hard. I definitely came from a more traditional aesthetic and he came from more of this, like, contemporary thing.” She said they couldn’t really agree on anything at the time and still find themselves disagreeing when it comes to decorating to this day. Nowadays though, Rande and Cindy work together flipping houses, so they’ve definitely gotten hit a stride when it comes to designing together!

They have two children together: Charlotte Grace Prinze (born in 2009) and Rocky James Prinze (born in 2012).
Freddie told E! News the secret to their long-lasting marriage. “We were just friends. That’s one of the reasons I think our relationship has always been so good. We were just friends for a good two years before we ever went on a date. She knew what kind of guy I was. She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were and vise-versa. We already kind of knew all the faults in the other person.”

3. Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Years Together: 16 years
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have had a very public relationship, just look at Lemonade. Bey told Seventeen magazine that she first met Jay when she was 18 but they were friends for well over 18 months before they ever started dating (he is 12 years older than her, so it was probably for the best to wait a little bit). They appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair together in 2001, which is when Queen B said they’d only just decided to try and date each other. After that, we got plenty of music from Jay-Z and Beyoncé and they’ve been a Hollywood “it” couple ever since! The couple managed to have a very private wedding in April 2008 without garnering any publicity. They have three children together: Blue Ivy Carter (born in 2012) and twins, Rumi Carter and Sir Carter, (born in June 2017). Jay-Z famously cheated on Bey (thus, Lemonade) and apparently, according to an “insider,” their daughter Blue might be the main reason that she stayed around to fix things. We’re happy they did!

2. Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher

Years Together: 15 years
The couple met each other at a party in Sydney Australia in 2002 and began dating right away. Isla Fischer converted to Judaism before their 2010 marriage. Sacha is known for portraying wild characters, and apparently, he has embarrassed his wife on multiple occasions.
She told Square Mile magazine, “My dad and step mum flew out to Cape Town, as they really wanted to see Sacha working, but I neglected to check the call sheet. I took them over to set and all I could see were two animatronic elephants surrounded by the film crew. We got closer, and we couldn’t see Sacha anywhere. Then suddenly my husband popped his head out of the elephant’s vagina and proceeded to fight against the other elephant’s erect penis. I saw my step mum’s face – and my mouth was just opening and closing like a goldfish, but no words came out.”

Ellen opened up to People about her marriage in 2016, saying, “Portia and I constantly say to each other, ‘We are so lucky.’ Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there. I’ve gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She’s not going anywhere. I’m not saying the relationship took a while; I’m saying in my life, it took a while to find this.”
