With all the headlines being thrown at us this year, it’s hard not to let our imaginations go wild with all the absurd media. Let’s just say with all the actual craziness going on in the world, it can blur the lines between reality and fiction. It can be addicting to do your own investigative research on the web to figure out what’s real and what’s fake — but let’s just say the internet has proof that pretty much everything exists and you might just come upon some shocking conspiracy theories that you’re surprised to realize you kind of believe.
Nothing is ever as it seems in Hollywood. Whether the Illuminati is really taking over the world, or that two celebrities have been secretly dating on the DL for years, we present to you 16 of the wildest conspiracy theories out there right now that focus on the entertainment industry. We’re still trying to wrap our minds around them too.
16. Katy Perry is JonBenét Ramsey
Yes, the resemblance between Katy Perry and JonBenét Ramsey is pretty uncanny when you look at side by side photos of the two of them. But before we even go into this theory, we should mention that in every report of this Christmas Day crime, they found JonBenét’s dead body. Even so, the Katy-Perry-is-JonBenét theory has taken conspiracy theorists by storm. But this story goes that the child beauty queen’s death was faked so Katy could reach the star level she’s garnered today. It’s a pretty crazy claim, and the #1 piece of quote-unquote “evidence” is that Ramsey and Perry’s parents look pretty similar. When asked about this conspiracy theory, Katy refused to answer. Like, why wouldn’t she just deny the rumors?
15. Lady Gaga Murdered Lina Morgana
The story goes something like this: Lina Morgana, a 19-year-old model and singer from Staten Island, was scouted by Rob Fusari, a big-time producer that’s worked with artists like Destiny’s Child and Will Smith. Fusari brought in Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga) to write songs for Lina. Morgana’s style included wigs, platform shoes, lingerie, and other trademarks of Lady Gaga’s aesthetic to come. In August of 2008, Gaga released The Fame. Morgana’s tracks never made it, and she died by suicide two months later. Gaga refused to comment. It all seems a bit sinister, right? Though Gaga (likely) didn’t kill anyone, the internet was quickly covered with people claiming the only explanation behind Lina’s untimely death and Stefani’s rise to fame at the same time would have to be linked to some sort of foul-play between the two.
14. Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have been in a secret romantic relationship for years
Both former members of British boy band One Direction, the theory goes that the two best buds have been having a secret fling basically since they started working together. The 1D fandom has even created a couple name for the duo, “Larry Stylinson.” We can’t deny that a pretty big double standard exists in intimacy between friends of the same gender, but it’s hard not to read into the touchy body language, cheek kisses, and sexual tension present in early interviews of the two young singers. Plus, Harry and Louis have matching tats and once lived together apart from the rest of the band. Although Tomlinson recently denied the rumors in an interview, there’s his rumored on-again-off-again girlfriend, Eleanor Calder to think about, too. However, Louis’s dropped several hints in the past alluding to a secret relationship and many think it’s got to be the one with Harry. Styles also denied rumors about his song “Sweet Creature” being about Tomlinson, but hey, who knows.
13. Louis Tomlinson’s baby is fake
If you thought the Larry theory was mind-boggling, wait until you hear about the baby drama. Back in January 2016, Tomlinson had baby Freddie with LA stylist and ex-fling, Briana Jungwirth. There aren’t many pictures out there of the tot, but the theory goes that the entire pregnancy and baby wasn’t real, all the photos posted have been photoshopped, and get this: The whole reason for the “fake baby” is to distract the fans from the reality of “Larry.” Is that some conspiracy-ception or what? There’s a lengthy list of reasons why fans seem to think that poor little Freddie Tomlinson is just a doll, and if you talk to the right person, it’s pretty convincing. Basically, all the photos seem a little ~off~ and there’s even a bit of miscommunication from Briana and Louis about what day Freddie was even born! We’re not saying this conspiracy theory is real but…
12. Kylie Jenner is Kim Kardashian’s surrogate
Iconic duo Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are expecting a third child in January. Due to Kim’s past health scares during pregnancy, the couple decided on hiring a surrogate for North and Saint’s younger sib. With recent rumors that Kylie Jenner is hiding a baby bump about five months into the pregnancy, the timelines match up. If Kylie is, in fact, pregnant, the coincidental January due dates are suspicious. (Unless of course, they made a pregnancy pact with big sis, Khloe Kardashian, too — but that’s another conspiracy theory.) Kimye’s surrogate hasn’t been identified, plus Kylie has only been dating Travis Scott since April. After Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s sub-par ratings last season, the sister-surrogate might just be the next big news to break the internet.
11. Shakira and Pitbull predicted the disappearance of Malaysian airline MH370
Who doesn’t love a good Pitbull song? OK maybe some people, but his lyrics are bound to get stuck in your head, even if you don’t want them to. Now people are saying that no one other than Pitbull had some sort of knowledge regarding the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 prior to the eerie disappearance. Insane, I know. His song with Shakira, “Get it Started,” is home to the lyric, “Now it’s off to Malaysia” and “Two passports, three cities, two countries, one day.” Flight MH370 disappeared in 2014, and guess when “Get It Started” was released?! 2012. If this isn’t true, then it must be a strange coincidence that two Austrian Italian passports were stolen by terrorists to board MH370, the cities are referring to the capital cities of Malaysia, China, and Vietnam, and the two countries are Malaysia and Vietnam. Mr. Worldwide’s got some explaining to do!
10. The Kanye & Taylor feud was staged
From the iconic VMA hijack, to Kanye’s “Famous” track and Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” retaliation, the Kanye/Taylor feud has seemed to drag on and on for much longer than we needed it to. There was even the phone call drama ft. Kim K. The VMA moment is one that will go down in history. Despite the seemingly genuine awkwardness of the moment when Kanye stole the mic to declare Queen Bey more deserving of the award, it’s been said that Kanye planned the entire thing as an initiation of sorts to welcome Taylor Swift into the world of Illuminati artists. This one might be a bit of a stretch, but we can’t help but wonder if Kanye, Kim, and Taylor are all hanging out and laughing at the world behind closed doors. They’re all making bank from it, for sure.
9. Lindsay Lohan had a secret twin sister named Kelsey Morgan Lohan
What would you say if we told you that behind the scenes of everyone’s favorite childhood Disney flick, The Parent Trap, a murder mystery lay dormant? How it goes is that Lindsay Lohan, the lead role who ~apparently~ played both twins with the help of CGI movie effects in the film, really had a twin named Kelsey Morgan who went on to live a normal life right before the film’s release. The theory continues alleging that Kelsey was murdered by Disney (for not being as good of an actress as her sister?), and Lindsay and Kelsey’s parents were given “hush money” afterward to keep ’em quiet. This theory is reliant on photos that ~clearly~ show the two Parent Trap girls having vastly different facial features. Many have also said it would explain Michael Lohan and Dina Lohan‘s bizarre public antics.
8. Melania Trump has a body double and she left Trump weeks ago
This one’s pretty funny, and it’s actually not that hard to get behind. Considering all the press conferences, rallies, and events the First Lady has attended alongside her husband in the past year, nobody can deny it would be exhausting. Who wouldn’t hire a body double to stand in for all the boring crap?! This conspiracy theory states that because of her consistent oversized sunglasses, plus her lips/facial structure appearing very different in side-by-side photos of Melania, that the First Lady in front of the cameras on October 13 was, in fact, not the real Melania, but a stand-in. Fake news? Yes, pictures of her later on in the day disproved this theory… most likely.
7. Brittany Murphy Was Killed by the Government
When one of our favorite actresses from Uptown Girls and Clueless died at age 32, everyone was shocked. What many don’t know is that her husband Simon Monjack died just five months later. Cause of death? Apparently, it was a combination of pneumonia, prescription, and over-the-counter drugs. Monjack’s cause of death? The same exact thing. Coincidence? Some don’t think so. Her own father disputes rumors that they ever took drugs. Conspiracy theorists claimed that because Brittany was a witness in Julia Davis‘s whistle-blowing case against the Department of Homeland Security, she’d been under nearly constant surveillance by the government, who eventually killed her to keep her silence.
6. Madonna is Lady Gaga’s Birth Mother
The title might seem absurd until you look at photos and look at their origins side by side. Italian heritage? Check. New Yorkers? Check. Alright, maybe those are pretty common. HOWEVER, Madonna’s 1985 “Papa Don’t Preach” is about getting pregnant out of wedlock. Gaga was born in ‘86. Another strange detail? Gaga’s mother Cynthia bares striking similarities to Madonna. Perhaps they’re sisters and Madonna passed off Gaga to her sister, who raised her… at least that’s what the conspiracy theories have concocted.
5. Jennifer Lawrence faked her fall at the Oscar’s
What’s not to love about Jennifer Lawrence? For most of her career, J-Law’s been a favorite across Hollywood. Seriously, you’d be hardpressed to find someone who didn’t love her! However, her supposed “fall” at the Oscars had many raising their eyebrows with skepticism. The story goes that her feet got tangled in her dress, and she fell up a staircase. We’ve all fallen up the stairs, no? However, considering Jennifer’s ~thing~ is how relatable she is (She’s clumsy! She eats burgers!), some think the whole image is an act. Even Jared Leto supports the theory that J-Law staged her Oscar trip, but it’s up to you to make up your mind.
4. Lil Miquela is not real
For those of you who don’t know who Lil Miquela is, she’s an Instagram sensation that’s taken the world by storm — mostly because no one can figure out if she’s real or not. Some think she’s just a computer-generated image and others think she’s a real person who’s been heavily edited. Some even think she’s a Sim! As for the identity behind Lil Miquela, some theorists think it’s Nicole Ruggiero, an Instagrammer who looks similar to Lil Miquela and is clearly in graphic design. Others say it’s another Instagram celeb named, Emily Bador. Truth be told, there’s a good chance we’ll never know. Lil Miquela has even done an interview with Shane Dawson where she dodges questions about who/what she is!
3. Beyoncé Kidnapped Sia and is holding her hostage in a dungeon, forcing her to write songs
It might seem far-fetched, but the supposed coded messages in Sia’s tweets seem a bit too eerie to be a coincidence. “Hope Everyone Likes Pancakes” (spelling out the word HELP with the first letter of every word) is just one of her tweets many read as a plea for help. Why Beyoncé? Because in 2015, Sia described her work as a “writing camp” to serve Queen Bey. Brazilian social media has definitely made a pretty interesting case for this one. It’s especially suspicious that Sia wears a wig that covers her face during all of her performances. Is it actually a stand-in disguised in Sia’s place? We’ll leave that for you guys to decide.
2. Beyoncé is a member of the Illuminati and her daughter Blue Ivy is a coded acronym
When Beyoncé and Jay-Z dropped the news about the decision to name their baby girl “Blue Ivy,” it was probably one of the most highly anticipated celebrity births of all time, so you bet the public speculated many possibilities as to why they chose the unique name. Bey never gave an answer, which led to more suspicions. The compelling conspiracy about the power couple being the ringleaders of the Illuminati (a secret society of the political and intellectual elite who basically run the world) led fans to further suspicions about their failure to disclose an answer: Blue Ivy is an acronym for “Born Living Under Evil, Illuminati’s Very Youngest” and if you want to take it a step further, her name spelled backwards is “YVI EULB,” which some claim is Latin for Lucifer’s daughter. HINT: It’s not.
1. Jay-Z never cheated on Beyoncé, it was a publicity stunt to drive Lemonade sales
Beyoncé pretty much runs the world so it’s hard not to question her reasons for what she does. When Lemonade was released for all of us to obsess over for several months to come, lyrics like “What’s worse, looking jealous or crazy?”, “If you try this sh*t again, you lose your wife,” and, of course, “Becky with the good hair” furthered our suspicions about the cheating rumors. This came after Solange lunged at Jay-Z in the elevator back in 2014. His infidelity seemed glaringly obvious for a while… until some things made us skeptical. In her “Forgiveness” video, the duo cozying up in bed made us scratch our heads. Plus, let’s not forget that the album was released exclusively on Tidal (Jay-Z’s music streaming app). It didn’t take long for Lemonade sales to soar to the top of the charts. Faux feuds are one of the oldest tricks in the book, especially to sell records. Yonce is still the queen, but this one could definitely be a publicity stunt.
