New year, new TV shows and movies to watch on Netflix! However, that also means the end of the line for bunch of our favorites in January 2018. Just like every month, Netflix will remove some titles to make room for new ones – and although we’re sad to see them go, we’re also excited for what’s to come. Our faves including Bring It On, The Godfather, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Wedding Crashers, and all the Batman movies are coming to Netflix next month!
Not so bad considering we’re losing Mean Girls and Miss Congeniality. Also, if you’re currently binge-watching Lost, you better binge a little faster because it’ll be gone as of January 4th.
Thankfully, there’s time to catch up before they’re gone. We have the Christmas holidays to watch any of these movies for the last time on Netflix. But don’t worry, these titles often come back eventually. Until then, we must say goodbye for now!
15. Mean Girls
This loss is one of the toughest to swallow! We’re losing Mean Girls, the movie that we could literally watch 200 times and it’ll still feel like the first time every time. In case you’ve never seen it (HOW?!), now’s the time to enjoy the hilarious comedy starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amy Poehler. It follows Cady Heron, a teenage girl who moves to the suburbs after living in Africa with her parents. She soon realizes that high school is not what she thought it would be. There are cliques, including one named “The Plastics.” BEST MOVIE EVER! Watch it now or regret it forever.

14. Miss Congeniality
Miss Congeniality is another one we’re going to miss – especially since both the original and the sequel will be leaving Netflix in 2018. But don’t fret, you have a solid two weeks to watch both before they’re gone. The film, which stars Sandra Bullock, follows an FBI agent who must go undercover after there’s a threat made against the Miss United States pageant. It’s hilarious and honestly, we could watch Sandra’s character, Gracie Hart, get her makeover done every day! SO GOOD.

13. Grease
Say goodbye to Sandy and Danny! We’re sure many of you – like us – are lucky to own Grease on VHS, but having it on Netflix was a nice treat. You can still catch it on the streaming service until the new year, but after that, we’ll have to go scrummage through our old VHS tapes (or DVDs) to find this movie musical.

12. The Parent Trap
So not only is Mean Girls gone, but Lindsay Lohan‘s Parent Trap will be leaving Netflix too! After all these years, we still think LiLo deserved an award for playing twins so well. Who else thought she was an actual twin when they first watched the movie in 1998? The movie follows sisters, Annie and Hallie, who are strangers until they are unexpectedly reunited at camp. It’s SO good!

11. White Chicks
White Chicks is yet another comedy we’re sad to lose on Netflix next month, but there’s still enough time to get some serious laughs in. The film follows two FBI brothers who are forced to escort a pair of socialites to the Hamptons. However, when the girls realize what the FBI agents are up to, they refuse to go. So Marcus and Kevin Copeland take matters into their own hands by transforming themselves into the blonde sisters. You’ll be in stitches, we promise.

10. Saw
All the Saw movies are leaving Netflix too! Yep, all seven Saws, including Saw: The Final Chapter will be leaving in January. We don’t know how much you love the franchise, but if you want to catch them all again before they’re gone, you better hurry. The films follow John Kramer, otherwise known as the Jigsaw Killer, as he kills and torments people with games. If you’re into horror, then you’ll enjoy binge-watching all of these one after another.

9. Mona Lisa Smile
Mona Lisa Smile has a star-studded cast you don’t want to miss. Not only does Julia Roberts star in it, but Kirsten Dunst, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Julia Stiles, and Ginnifer Goodwin all show off their best work in this film. It follows Katherine Watson, a UCLA graduate who’s hired to teach art history at an all-female college. There, she meets some great students who she inspires to live a life they want instead of the life their expected to lead.

8. Free Willy
Grab your tissues if you want to watch Free Willy before it leaves Netflix in January. Whenever we see the words Free Willy, all we can think about is our childhood. Don’t you? It’s also the first movie that really had a lot of us feeling things we didn’t know we had in us! The film follows orphan Jesse, who meets a young Orca Whale who was also separated from his family. Because of that, they form an unbreakable bond. It’s the perfect movie to watch if you’re feeling nostalgic AF.

7. Forrest Gump
You’ll also want to catch Forrest Gump before it’s gone! The Oscar-winning film is definitely one of those movies you need to see at least once – and here’s your chance! The film follows Tom Hanks‘s character, Forrest Gump, who is a simple man. Forrest reminds us that we shouldn’t have to lose the optimism we possessed when we were younger just because adulthood is here. If that hasn’t sold you to watch it, then maybe telling you that House of Cards star Robin Wright is in it will.

6. Chicago
If you love Broadway shows, then Chicago is a must-watch before it leaves Netflix in January. With an A+ crew of actors including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere, the film is so incredibly well done. Set in the Roaring 20s, the costumes are also a sight to behold. The movie follows a group of women in prison for killing significant men in their lives. Yes, it’s just as amazing as it sounds.

5. I Am Sam
I Am Sam is leaving, too! If you want to watch a genuinely good movie during the holidays, then this is this one. Dakota Fanning is in it and her performance is probably one of her best. She really showed off her acting chops in this one – and she was only seven years old! Sean Penn also puts on a great performance as an autistic father trying to raise his daughter, Lucy. A young Elle Fanning makes a brief cameo playing a younger version of her big sis!

4. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
If you’ve never seen E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, not only have you missed out on a beautiful experience, but you have until the new year to watch it before it goes off of Netflix! The film follows an alien stranded on earth, only to be discovered by a little boy named Elliot. Elliot brings E.T. to his house, but must keep his existence a secret from everyone. This is one of THE most classic movies — if you haven’t seen it already, go for it ASAP.

3. The Addams Family
Even though it’s Christmas, why not watch The Addams Family one last time before it’s gone? You’ll have their theme song stuck in your head for days but it’s totally worth it! If for no other reason, once you watch then you’ll finally know what’s the deal behind the Wednesday Addams memes.
Leaving January 1st
2. Daddy Day Care
Daddy Day Care is the perfect comedy to watch with your family during the holidays! It’s fun and hilarious, starring Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin. The movie is pretty much exactly what it sounds like and although it’s admittedly a bit corny — it’s a great family movie to watch around the holidays with people of all ages!
Leaving January 1st
1. The Mighty Ducks
Last but not least, The Mighty Ducks will also be leaving Netflix in the new year. We’re sad to see it go, but we know this classic will be back in no time. The film is centered around a hockey coach, forced into the job after getting a DUI. At first, he’s not super thrilled about his new role, but he eventually grows to love his team — and we’ve grown to love this movie.
