17 Of The Most Dramatic Co-Star Feuds In Pop Culture History

We’ve all gushed over the on-screen relationships of some of our favorite acting duos, making them our #goals, and wishing one day our bestie/love relationships can recreate what we’ve seen on TV and in movies. However, with anything in Hollywood, it isn’t always as pretty as it seems. We sometimes forget that celebs are just like us, and just as we don’t always see eye to eye with coworkers, the same applies to them. There are good days and bad days, and bad days that turn into bad weeks. If there’s one thing we’ve learned is that everything that glitters isn’t gold!

While some are sad to hear their faves don’t get along, others live for some juicy Hollywood feuds, and on these sets, the emotions were on fire! From fists being thrown, to screaming matches, to elaborate plots to bring down their enemy, and even quitting the project, these are nothing short of insane. For a few, we saw repeat offenders, who find themselves in turmoil with more than just one co-star. So sit back, relax, and enjoy, because some of these feuds are like watching a Lifetime drama.

1. American Idol: Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj

Everyone was so excited to hear that the legendary songstress and the hip-hop princess would be gracing our TV screens as two of the judges of the 2012 season of American Idol. However, our excitement quickly faded after we almost immediately found out that the two were in a bitter feud. A video posted by TMZ captured Minaj in a profanity-ridden rant against Carey and the beef even carried over to social media. Minaj took jabs at her co-star, tweeting: “All I do is compliment u. That’s not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don’t have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady…” Did I mention that there was also an alleged gun threat? Talk about TOO MUCH.

2. Magic Mike: Channing Tatum & Alex Pettyfer

What’s better than a bunch of shirtless hunks dancing to our favorite music? Magic Mike made all of our fantasies come true while making us love the brotherhood between Tatum and Pettyfer’s character. However, that brotherhood was far from real off-screen, “Channing Tatum does not like me,” says Pettyfer. “For many reasons. Many being my own fault.” While Pettyfer has nothing but good things to say about Tatum, those feelings are definitely not mutual. Ultimately, Pettyfer was not asked back for Magic Mike XXL, and Tatum has yet to comment. Yikes. Sounds like Tatum is completely over his co-star.

3. Any Given Sunday: Jamie Foxx & LL Cool J

LL Cool J took his hit song “Mama Said Knock You Out” literally in 1999. Fists flew on set after Jamie Foxx and LL came to head. This year on the show Drink Champs, the rap legend revealed, “He had his helmet on, and he was turned to the side. He said, ‘I told you before. Don’t put your hands on me. Period!’”

LL continued. “Yo, when he said that, my left hand grabbed the face mask and, as I was pulling his helmet off, my right hand was punching his chin. This was like ‘POW!’ And then he was laying there and I thought he was faking because he was sleep!” Well… What an eventful day on set. Luckily, both of the actors have grown tremendously and have since made up.

4. Real Housewives Of Atlanta: Kim Zolciak & Nene Leakes

A rocky friendship indeed. The rise, demise, rise, and demise again of their relationship has played out on national TV for all to see. The name calling has been everything from “homewrecker,” to “devil”, and most recently, “racist.” The two’s most recent spat has been EPIC with Zolciak’s 20-year-old daughter, Brielle, now involved. After Brielle posted a video in Nene’s house that allegedly shows roaches crawling around, Nene responded, “@briellebiermann We don’t have roaches! If you found 1, u brought it with u or it fell outta yo funky p—y! Please know I will get you all the way together when you start f–king wit me and mine! Go somewhere and let the air outta those fake lips, fake titties and fake ass because you will never be @kyliejenner.” It’s safe to say things have gotten way out of hand.

5. Two and a Half Men: Charlie Sheen & Chuck Lorre

Sheen is no stranger to drama, and he’s been known for saying, well, outlandish things about those he doesn’t get along with. He was clearly feeling some kind of way when he threatened the life of the Two and Half Men producer. After not taking too kindly to being killed off the show, Sheen said, “Seriously, it doesn’t even matter. To go that low and be that immature and that completely unevolved and that stupid? In my face, Really? You must feel safe motherf***er. You must feel safe where you live. Damn!”

Though not shocking for someone like Sheen, many felt that he had taken it way too far, and so do we!

6. Charlie’s Angels: Lucy Liu & Bill Murray

I guess Lucy Liu is just as badass in real life as her character in Charlie’s Angels. Derober reported that the drama on set was far more than anyone had bargained for. Apparently, Bill even stopped a scene once to criticize Lucy saying “what in the hell are you doing here?” while comparing her to Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, according to Rerober. He also allegedly said, “you can’t act”… to her face. Obviously, Lucy completely freaked (wouldn’t we all?) and threw the first punch. OMG. As we all know Murray was replaced by Bernie Mac for movie number 2. Don’t mess with Lucy Liu.

7. The Notebook: Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling

They became everyone’s #RelationshipGoals in The Notebook, and in real life but before they got together, they actually feuded! The chemistry seemed so real between the two that nobody could have guessed that there was crazy animosity on set at first. At one point, the two were almost incapable of being around each other, according to reports. One day Gosling requested that another actress read with him off-screen in Rachel’s place. Apparently, it was a therapeutic screaming match that got these two back on speaking terms and the rest, as they say, is history.

8. Fast and Furious: Tyrese Gibson & Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

If you’ve been paying attention to social media, then you’ve seen the seemingly bizarre rants that Gibson has posted from his Instagram page. After The Rock announced a Fast and Furious spinoff that would push back the release of Fast 9, Tyrese, who said he needs the money to aid in his bitter custody battle, was… furious.

The rants have been non-stop. Very recently, Gibson alluded to the fact that the two had made amends. In an Instagram post, he said, “Want you guys to know I️ had a real Heart to Heart with one of Dwayne’s associates and this will be my last post about him…….. I️ repeat my last…. I️ respect the associate who called. My story will never change I️ was never DJ’s Co-Star… I’m Shayla’s Father first…. Justin Lin is back in the driver seat that’s exciting cause it going to feel like the true #FastFamily all over again….. When we see Justin we see Paul…..” So does this mean the beef is over? I guess we’ll see.

9. Sex and The City: Sarah Jessica Parker & Kim Cattrall

I almost cried real tears upon finding out that Sex & The City 3 would no longer be a thing. A die-hard Samantha fan, my heart broke, even more, to find out that Cattrall was one of the main reasons for the decision. Sources allege that Cattrall didn’t like the fact that SJP was being paid tremendously higher than her, something both of the actresses have strongly denied.

However, the tone changed after Cattrall was displeased with SJP’s response to the cancellation of SATC3, saying, “At this very moment, it’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of ‘no’ that I’m demanding or a diva.” Cattrall continued, “I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.” Looks like there was more of a feud between these two then we thought.

10. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: Will Smith & Janet Hubert

To the surprise of ’90s babies everywhere, we woke up one day to a different Aunt Viv than the one we had come to love and adore. It wouldn’t be until years later that we would find out just how nasty the feud between The Fresh Prince and Huber had become. She blames Smith for ruining her career, telling BVonBooks, “My departure was planned for a long time… There will never be a reunion of the Fresh Prince. Will Smith and Alfonso [Ribiero] destroyed a 20-year-career with untruths. I got slammed.” Her attacks have only grown more frequent even criticizing Alfonso Ribeiro and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Needless to say, we’d be here all day if we addressed all of Hubert’s not-so-nice feelings, though Will never really engages.

11. Desperate Housewives: Nicollette Sheridan & Teri Hatcher

“Meanest woman in the world” were the words Sheridan allegedly called her co-star. Her departure from the hit ABC show was anything but amicable, with her suing the creator, Marc Cherry, for wrongful termination. On the stand, Cherry said that Sheridan was a toxic presence on set, specifically to Teri Hatcher. He recounted a time when he had to intervene in a fight with the two ‘housewives.’ Sheridan believed that her ongoing feud with Hatcher contributed to her character being killed off and was furious. Looks like the drama off-screen was just as intense as the drama on-screen.

12. What Ever Happened to Baby Jane: Bette Davis & Joan Crawford

A feud that dates back more than 50 years, when Crawford found herself not nominated for an Oscar and her co-star was poised to take home her third, she launched an epic campaign to make sure Davis didn’t make history. It’s rumored that most of the feud stemmed from jealousy on Davis’s part, who despised Crawford’s success. I mean, come on, where is the female support?

The feud was so intense that it was made into an FX movie, appropriately named Feud, starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange. Any beef that calls for an entire series was definitely one of epic proportions.

13. Annapolis: Tyrese Gibson & James Franco

Franco’s method acting served as the source of tension on the set of Annapolis. “James Franco is a Method actor,” Gibson said in an interview with Elle magazine. “I respect Method actors, but he never snapped out of character. Whenever we’d have to get in the ring for boxing scenes, and even during practice, the dude was full-on hitting me.” There were only so many hits Gibson could take until he had had enough with his aggressive co-star. Franco has publicly apologized to Gibson, saying that he’s sure he was a jerk on set and it was never intentional.

14. Charmed: Shannen Doherty & Alyssa Milano

When Doherty left the hit show Charmed, it was rumored that her exit was a result of ongoing problems with Milano. Hollywood gossip says that Shannen went to producers saying, basically, “her or me” and producers said, “her.” Holly Marie Combs was caught in between as a good friend to both.

On Watch What Happens Live years after the show wrapped, Milano described her time on set as “high school,” a term we all know is far from endearing. Though the stars never gave much detail about their feud, they have spoken on reconciling and how they have reconnected in the past few years. Looks like they’re finally charmed with each other! Get it?

15. Beverly Hills, 90210: Shannen Doherty & Jennie Garth

Looks like Doherty has had it out with a few of her co-stars. In an interview with E! News, Garth said, “It was more of just young girls finding their way and finding their individual voices. Shannen and I are both Aries women. We’re both very strong, independent women, so we butt heads a lot. Now, as grown women, we happen to get along.” Though Garth said the two have never gotten physical in the past, she made it known that they had, in fact, come very close. Shoutout to growth and forgiveness because now these ladies are great friends!

16. Gossip Girl: Leighton Meester & Blake Lively

They played the stylish besties that everyone wanted to be, but off the Gossip Girl set, the love def wasn’t there. Though the relationship between the two was described as “friendly,” by some, those who were there recall the two being anything but friends.

A source told Perez Hilton, “After something of a thaw in their relationship during the final two seasons of Gossip Girl, Leighton and Blake don’t speak anymore.” They didn’t hang out, didn’t attend chic parties, and didn’t spill secrets to each other like Blair and Serena did every week on our TV screens.

17. Romeo + Juliet: Claire Danes & Leonardo DiCaprio

Though the two are crazy about each other now, on set was a different story. Still young, Danes found DiCaprio to be immature and the second the camera turned off distanced herself from her co-star. The two rarely hung away from the movie. Now, the pair has done a 180, gushing about each other’s acting skills and keeping in almost constant communication!
