26 Celebrities Share Their Hangover Cures And Secret Remedies

It’s summertime and while some are sticking to the classic rosé all day warm-weather lifestyle, others are swapping out the “summer water” for an alternative: delicious canned cocktails that are almost too delish to sip slowly. We’ve shared creative ways to eat your booze and even spilled secrets about how much you’d have to consume to start feeling tipsy.

While holidays like Halloween and New Years are known as party nights, there’s no other time of year where partying every evening is almost acceptable and that’s summertime. While this is true, waking up at 6 AM for your summer internship or real, “adult” job can be difficult as f*ck if you… ummm… happened to ~overindulge~ the previous night. (Something I’m sure none of us have any IRL experience with, of course.)

Well, if you’re in a clutch and need something to get that pounding headache to dissolve, just remember to look to the stars. And by that, I mean celebrities, who have lived the lifestyle of the rich and the famous for long enough to have some first-hand tips for getting that pesty hangover to GTFO so you can go about your day:

1. Ashley Benson

While some swear by fast food or more drank, Ashley Benson‘s hangover cure is all about giving the face some hydration. “I refresh my skin with a cucumber mask, followed by a lot of moisturizer,” she told US Weekly. Perhaps a wine face mask would do the trick, too?

2. Allison Williams

The Girls actress is also all about the lotions when it comes to tough mornings. “The smell of rosemary in my eye cream wakes me up. It’s pretty spectacular and helps diminish dark circles after a late night of partying,” she confessed.

3. Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz‘s approach is the one you always see in movies. “I have an Egg McMuffin and a beer,” she told Cosmopolitan. “You need to drink more of the alcohol you’ve killed yourself with — the classic hair of the dog.”

4. Leigh-Anne Pinnock

The Little Mix singer took to her group’s Twitter page to talk about her tips for surviving a horrible hangover. “The perfect hangover cure! Nachos, chocolate sundae and ur best friends,” she said. Being real though, if you’re someone who deals with day-after-drunk anxiety — then being surrounded by your BFFs really does do the trick!

5. Jade Thirlwall

Leigh-Anne’s bandmate had some tips of her own! Before going out, she leaves herself a snack! She posted a photo of a Ham n’ Cheese Lunchable Snacker to Instagram with the caption, “Sober me left drunk me a snack in my clutch bag for when I got hungry on my night out and I couldn’t be prouder of sober me.” Nothing like a classic lunchable to soak up all the booze!

6. Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran isn’t shy about his love of alcohol and the guy has picked up a couple tricks for getting through the next day. The singer-songwriter told BBC, “I’ve been told to down a pint of water before you go to bed, and then you’ll feel fine. Apparently, flat Sprite in the morning is a good cure too.” But his number-one tip? Don’t smoke cigarettes. “I find if you smoke cigarettes, your hangovers are horrendous,” he explained. I’m sure a lot of you are thinking “well that explains it” right about now.

7. George Clooney

Amal Clooney‘s man George Clooney has given up on his partying days and it seems he’s figured out the ultimate hangover-avoider. “My hangover cure is simple — don’t get one! Don’t live at full tilt the way I used to. I hate waking up with the kind of hangover you get from going on huge benders with your buddies,” he said. Ha! Easier said than done, Georgey.

8. Gordon Ramsay

British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has his drunken nights down to a T. “I do occasionally overindulge, especially [during the holidays]. I’ll get a cab home, safe in the knowledge that my wife Tana will have bought in all the ingredients for a kedgeree to fend off the next morning’s hangover.” For those of you (like me) unfamiliar with WTF a kedgeree is, it’s a flaked fish dish with rice, hardboiled eggs and butter or cream. Yummy.

9. Gwyneth Paltrow

Advice from our girl, Gwyneth Paltrow, should always be taken with a grain of salt given the GOOP/NASA fiasco, but she did share on her personal site what she does after over-drinking. Not only does she pop a Mercy pill, but she also recommends, “draw[ing] a bath that is as hot as you can handle it and mix[ing] in some Epsom Salts and Baking Soda. Soak for twenty minutes and then pop into a freezing cold shower for 1 minute. Get back in the hot bath and stay until you’re warmed up. Then get back in the shower for 1 more minute.” Tbh, that sounds like it would make a hangover worse but I’m no expert.

10. Christian Bale

Christian Bale’s hangover is just so… Batman of him, if you know what I mean. “Running is actually a great cure for a hangover. It’s hideous for a few minutes but it does cure it,” he’s said. Speaking for myself, I would rather stay in bed all day watching episodes of The Real Housewives of New York on Hulu with terrible nausea than actually try and run the alcohol out of me. Gross.

11. Julia Roberts

Pretty Woman Julia Roberts told The Herald Sun, “the secret is to find the balance between champagne and carrot juice. It works for me when I alternate between the two,” when talking about curing a hangover. It’s unclear if she means during the night while she’s boozin’ or the morning after. Either way, try both and see what happens?

12. Kendall Jenner

Kylie Jenner‘s older sister hasn’t been 21 for long, but she’s found her perfect hangover recipe to help soak up last night’s champagne-binge: Martha Stewart‘s Macaroni and Cheese recipe. It features breadcumbs, bacon and a ton of cheese. Sounds about right.

13. Kate Winslet

“A sausage and bacon sarnie usually does it for me,” Kate Winslet told The Mirror. “I also have a big glass of orange juice and a cup of sugary tea. The combination of vitamins and sugar perks me up.” Am I the only one who is suddenly starving?

14. Kate Hudson

Another Kate Hudson, another hangover cure. “I’ll drink lots of tomato juice, eat fresh fruit and an avocado, and take loads of vitamins,” she said.

15. Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler‘s dad, Steven Tyler might be better known for his partying, but Liv’s picked up a trick or two herself on avoiding that next-day pain. Her cure: hair of the dog and a nice breakfast. Mimosas, anyone?

16. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus: “So, la da di da di. We like to party,” MiCy sings in her song, “We Can’t Stop.” It’s cool, Miley, we get it, you’re no longer a Disney kid! But with all that partying, it makes sense the Hannah Montana star would go to epic proportions to get rid of a tough hangover. She’s gone the trendy IV-drip route. She shared an Instagram of herself with a needle in her arm talking about the “vittys” (vitamins, perhaps?) that the treatment injects into your veins to cure whatever post-drunk symptoms you’re having. Seems a little extra, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

17. Paris Hilton

Proving that literally everyone loves junk food when they’ve got a nasty hangover going, the heiress Paris Hilton told Cosmo, “I can recommend a quarter pounder burger filled with cheese and accompanied by lots of fries.” BRB — going to BK right the eff now.

18. P!nk

“Drink a beer as soon as possible,” Alecia Beth Moore suggested. Paris Hilton’s recommendation + P!nk’s kind of sounds like the perfect combo.

19. Daniel Craig

Pedialyte. No we’re not kidding. The kid’s drink. “It’s basically a diuretic; you give it to kids who are dehydrated. If you wake up in the morning and you’ve got one of those on standby and you down the whole lot… you can carry on drinking!” James Bond told DuJour.

20. Mark Wahlberg

When asked where Daniel Craig heard of his strange hangover remedy, he blamed Marky Mark! (Mark Wahlberg) “I don’t know [him], but I was told that’s what Mark swears by. It’s the difference between life and death as far as I’m concerned,” the actor continued in his DuJour interview. Mark has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors.

21. Scott Disick

Scott Disick “The Lord” is basically famous for partying, but it was still a bit of a shock when he sponsored his fave hangover cure right as rumors were swirling about his alcohol addiction. He shared a pic to IG saying, “Thank god for @blowfishangover. Feel like a million bucks this morning. #impressmyself.”

22. Renee Zellweger

The key to Renee Zellweger‘s quick recovery from partying? A hearty breaky. “A full English breakfast is good, or beans on toast. That kind of food does the trick for me,” she revealed.

23. Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana: “Before going to bed, I put Epsom salts into a warm bath and soak for 15 minutes,” the Avatar actress said. “The next day I wake up with half of the night erased.” Two things: One, is waking up with half the night erased a good thing? Two, perhaps it’s just that if you’re sober enough to give yourself an Epsom bath before bed then you’re just not drunk enough for a gnarly hangover.

24. Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell, the man who created One Direction (yes, that’s who he is to me) has said, “I don’t actually drink much at all, but I do get horrendous hangovers. I tend to get plenty of exercise and drink plenty of fruit juice.” Again with the exercise! I’ll pass.

25. Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe‘s tip? Basically, have better taste. “Get going again with tequila on the rocks. If you only drink that stuff, you won’t get a hangover in the first place!” Do tequila shots count? Asking for a friend…

26. Hugh Grant

Good ol’ Hugh Grant. “After a night out on the town, I find a plateful of spaghetti bolognese works wonders for me,” The Bridget Jones love-interest told Celebuzz. I’ve found a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese works wonders on me every night — whether I’m drinking or not!
