16. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has been the definition of extra ever since she debuted her breakthrough album The Fame in 2008. The self-proclaimed ‘Mother Monster’ has done everything from gracing the MTV red carpet sporting slabs of meat, making her Grammy entrance in an egg, and hiking the Montauk hills in a maxi skirt with patent nude Louboutin heels. So, is it really shocking that she once spent $60,000 to import 27 koi carp from Japan? Or that she reportedly copped a ghost detector for a cool 47 grand? Least surprising is learning that she was left almost two million dollars in debt after extravagant wardrobe purchases for the Monster’s Ball tour. Sirloin isn’t exactly cheap.
15. Gucci Mane
Rapper Gucci Mane has had one of the greatest glow ups of all time. The trap artist was released from prison in 2016, considerably more svelte than when he entered three years prior. He upgraded his wardrobe, dropped the iced-out grills, and prepared to marry the ultimate ride or die, Keyshia Ka’oir. The $1.7 million Miami affair was televised live as part of a ten episode reality series and featured a ten-foot wedding cake! The acrophobia-inducing confection cost $75,000, took three months to plan, and three days to make. The cake/art installment featured 2,500 Swarovski crystals and 8,000 handmade sugar flowers. Naturally, a regular knife would not suffice to cut the first slice. Instead, the couple used a blinged-out sword. Now that’s extra (in the best way).
14. Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
When your entourage is known as ‘The Money Team,’ chances are you’ve got some cash to flash. And that he does. The undefeated championship fighter doesn’t carry credit cards. Instead, he carries upwards of $100,000 in designer bags when he is cruising along the Vegas strip. Co-owner of Towbin Motor Cars in Las Vegas, Josh “Chop” Towbin, estimates that 80 of the 116 cars he has sold to Floyd Mayweather were gifted to others. He once doled out $500,000 on bags alone at Hermes in Paris. Mariah Carey proudly embraces her extra-ness. Popular New York City radio host Charlamagne tha God remembers the songstress showing up to an appearance on his show, The Breakfast Club late and with her own lighting crew following behind. At least the diva to end all divas offered them some champagne – at ten in the morning – but whatever. Mimi reportedly spends $45,000 a year on spa days for her doggies, who have also flown first class at $2,000 a pop. But nothing trumps the five to ten million dollar settlement she received from billionaire ex-fiancé James Packer for moving her life to L.A. The two were engaged for eight months. And just in case you were wondering, she kept the $10 million sparkler as a parting gift.
12. Cristiano Ronaldo
You might be surprised to find out that the bulk of Cristiano Ronaldo’s $400 million fortune is not solely supporting the hair gel industry. The Real Madrid forward apparently has a need for speed. His collection includes a Rolls Royce Phantom valued at $400,000, a $500,000 Koenigsegg CCX, a Lamborghini Aventador ($300,000), and a Ferrari 599 GTO ($385,000). But the crown jewel of the superstar’s fleet is a $1.7 million Bugatti Veyron. Honorable mention goes out to the $320,000 Ferrari he totaled in 2009 after a whopping two days of ownership. Baller status.
11. Paris Hilton
We all know how much Paris Hilton loves her pups. You might even call her something of a teacup connoisseur. And the Hilton Hotels heiress is not shy about sharing the wealth when it comes to her $8,000 fur babies. The sometimes-DJ dropped an impressive $325,000 on a 300-square foot doghouse. The two-story Italian-style mini villa boasts clay roof tiles, a black crystal chandelier, pink walls, and air-conditioning. The furniture is designer, obvi. Excuse me while I look up how to get a doggie real estate license in Sourthern California.
10. Kanye West
Remember that time Kanye West was reportedly $53 million in debt? It may have been due to his really extra spending habits. In 2013, West shelled out an estimated $3 million for a Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring for his soon-to-be-bride Kim Kardashian. For her birthday, he also gifted her two exclusive Birkin bags, hand painted by daughter North West and artist George Condo. That still pales in comparison to one Christmas when he treated Kim K to “150 gifts and counting” including a $39,000 fur coat. Yeezy is generous with his pals, too. In honor of Jay-Z’s first foray into fatherhood, West purchased a $34,000 golden skull which he personally picked up via private jet. Not exactly sure what one does with a metal skull, but I guess it’s the thought that counts.
9. Diddy
Three million dollars can buy you a luxury home in Miami Beach’s exclusive community. It can also safely get 12 kids through Harvard’s hallowed walls – with room and board. This was also the cost of P Diddy’s 40th birthday party back in 2009 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The black and white themed bash for 500 included the who’s who of the Hollywood scene including Denzel Washington, Jay-Z, Jimmy Fallon, Bono, and Kim Kardashian. The multi-million dollar event faced stiff competition from a number of competing high profile celebrations including the New Moon premiere and the Victioria’s Secret Fashion Show. But who can say no to Diddy or resist a special performance by Al Green and waitresses dressed as ballerinas?
8. Elton John
Sir Elton John is a legend in more ways than one. Back in 2000, John sued his management for mishandling his considerable fortune. He appeared at high court in London to explain how he made his way through 40 million pounds. When asked whether his estimated £1.5 million per month average spending might be an inaccuracy, John responded, “Probably not, no.” Pressed further about a £293,000 bill for flowers alone, the singer casually commented, “Yes, I like flowers.” We love an unbothered icon. File this one under ‘zero f&%$s given.’
7. Nicholas Cage
To say that Nicholas Cage is extra would be a gross understatement. I mean, where do we begin to unpack the WTF moments that the Academy Award-winning actor has provided in the past few years? In 2009, Cage was forced to sell his 28-room Bavarian castle citing a “difficult economic situation.” We’re only going to assume Cage is an avid comic book collector, because why else would he need $1 million dollars’ worth of them? Then there was that time he outbid Leonardo DiCaprio for a $276,000 dinosaur skull. And yet, still not the most outrageous Nic Cage purchase of all time! That honor might go to the two albino king cobras (and anti-venom) he once proudly owned.
6. Daniel Radcliffe
There’s getting a good night’s sleep and then there’s being extra AF about it. See Daniel Radcliffe. To be honest, this one was a bit surprising because the Harry Potter star has always been pretty low-key in his spending habits. But believe or not, a 17-year-old Radcliffe once spent $17,000 on a custom made mattress from Savoir, a UK company which specializes in bespoke beds. That purchase aside, he seems to still have his wits about him. “People seem to expect me to splash out on a classic-car collection, but I’ve never been into cars or anything like that,” he said in an interview. Maybe we should just chalk this one up to youthful exuberance.
5. Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson is the first to admit that he did not come from money. So, when the former heavyweight champ’s bank account filled up after a slew of high profile fights, he sort of went overboard. He spent $2 million on a bathtub for ex-wife Robin Givens, $140,000 on two white Bengal tigers with an extra $125,000 per year for their trainer, and $4.5 mil on cars and motorcycles. Bankruptcy filings show that Tyson spent over two hundred thousand dollars on cell phones and pagers from 1995 – 1997 alone. But back to the tub, because I have questions. Was it made from solid gold? Did it come with a personal butler? How do you spend millions on a TUB?!

You usually don’t get to queen status by being ordinary. Beyoncé announced the impending birth of the Carter twins to the world wearing co-ord underwear against a backdrop of flowers while cradling her burgeoning bump. The response to the internet breaking news was equally extra. You know the hive never disappoints. Bey also goes hard for her man Jay-Z. The singer gifted her husband a $2 million Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport for his 41st birthday and a $40 million private jet for his first Father’s Day. Hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.
3. Jay Z
His wife may have gifted him a two million dollar car but that was just a drop in the bucket compared to his $15 million collection. In addition to his Bugatti from Beyoncé, Hov is also the proud owner of a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, a Maybach Exelero, a Rolls Royce Phantom, a Pagani Zonda F, and a Ferrari F430 Spider. Trust me, they’re pricey. He returned the favor to his fam by blessing them with a private island in the Bahamas. It only set him back $4 mil. That’s a bargain compared to the $5 million he dropped on Beyoncé’s engagement ring. The New York rapper is a regular on Forbes list of highest paid entertainers, so money clearly ain’t a thang.

When I think of Kesha, three words come to mind – brave, warrior, and unicorn. The singer was thrust further into the spotlight when she moved heaven and earth to free herself from a music contract with her alleged abuser, producer Dr. Luke. Before that, I’m sure we all remember the carefree spirit who brought us hits like “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R.” She just always seemed so magical. Maybe it was the ever-present glitter – which she admits she spent thousands of dollars on… per month. According to Kesha, “Honestly, it’s pretty exorbitant. It’s probably more like a few thousand every month. If you come and see a show of mine, there is no shortage of glitter.” Now we know what that dollar sign stood for.

Ever since she gained a ton of exposure for the… production… she co-starred in, Kim Kardashian has been building an empire. Besides raking in millions for her role on the family reality show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Kim K. has been making bank on everything from a video game to her own Kimojis. And she certainly knows how to spend it. She dished out over $500,000 to decorate her newborn Chicago West’s nursery alone. Items included a $170,000 teddy bear and a Swarovski rocking horse. But Kim has always enjoyed the finer things in life. She placed an $880 serving spoon on her registry for her short-lived wedding to Kris Humphries.
